Frequently Asked Questions

What is the onboarding process?

Our friendly team are on hand to get you set up whichever way suits you best. You can send us your content and we'll add it to your new site for you, or we can work side by side, where you populate the site via your easy to use admin.

What is content?

All websites are made up of images and text, and this content will make up a majority of your new site. The more content you have, the better your website will be, by providing as much information as possible for your guests. 

What content is required?

What you include on your website is completely up to you, however there are some key areas that are required and recommended content. Having this sort of information will dramatically increase your chances of direct bookings. 

How should I send images?

- We recommend that you send any large files to onboarding@scrumpy.co.uk via https://wetransfer.com, a free online service that allows the likes of images to be shared without the loss of quality, (which is a common issue if sent as an attachment via email).

What will my website look like?

We have 6 customisable 'Themes' https://www.scrumpy.co.uk/holiday-property-website-design , each designed to showcase your properties in a way proven to encourage direct bookings. You can customise each Theme to set colours, amend fonts & the styling of navigational menus across your site.

Can I change the look of my website?

Yes, you can easily amend and edit your site at any time. We've made it as simple as possible for users of all abilities to use our software. Plus, you can change the theme at any time if you want a complete refresh and look.

Who writes the copy on my website?

This is completely up to you! If you are confident in your writing ability and happy to produce descriptions of your property, local area and why guests should book with you, great! If not, you can hire a copywriter or ask us to put you in touch with someone who frequently works in this industry.

Do you provide photography?

We do not, however we can put you in touch with talented professionals who have worked with our clients and are based around the UK. Whilst there is nothing wrong with using your own images, professional photography is a very worthwhile investment and can really make the difference between an okay and good website.

Do you provide a logo?

It is recommended to have a logo for your website and booking system, as it will be used across the site and in the likes of automated booking emails. We can provide you with a basic text or icon logo if you like, however if you would like more involvement in its design, it might be worth your while commissioning one from a designer.

How does it work?

As soon as you sign up we'll generate your own unique temporary domain, such as demo.myscrumpy.co.uk. You can view your website as it would appear in the real world, yet the only people who can see are those who have access to the link.

I already have a website?

No worries! Let us know what you'd like to carry across to your new site, and what content you don't. As we create the new website on the temporary domain, this won't effect your existing site at all.

What is a domain?

A domain, like scrumpy.co.uk, forms the address of a website and is the part the can be typed into a browser. Domains can be purchased from a registrar, typically in 12 month increments and can have a variety of suffixes, such as .com, .co.uk, .net, .org etc.

Is a domain included?

One domain is included as part of our Full plan. The domain will be registered for 24 months, belong to you and be set up in your name. Management and future renewals will be included as part of your monthly subscription. 

What if I already have a domain?

If you have a website, you will already have a domain. You may have also purchased a domain elsewhere which is fine. When you are ready for your new website to go live, we'll provide instructions to update the domain so it shows your new site.

Is hosting included?

Web hosting for all SCRUMPY sites, on both free Lite and paid Full plans, are inclusive of our service and is not something we charge additionally for. If you already pay for hosting via an existing provider you will no longer require it for a SCRUMPY website.

How much does it cost?

This depends on the plan and how many properties you have on your website. Our Lite option, for instance, is totally free for 1 property and comes without our booking system. Whilst a Full plan for 1 property is £50 a month (plus VAT). You can see our pricing here.

When do you take the first payment?

Once you are happy for your website to go live, we'll ask you to enter your card details into your secure admin. This day will act as your billing date and your first payment will be taken from the associated card within the next few days.

How long does it take?

Well that depends! As our website platform is already built, it's more a matter of configuring the booking system to work for you, and adding your images & text to build your pages. So if you already have your content, building a new SCRUMPY website can take as little as a few days! However on average, websites often take a few weeks, but this really comes down to you.
The SCRUMPY subscription is inclusive of a website, it's hosting and our software. We'll be happy to help where we can, offering expert advice and support.
