How to use Snippets

Snippets are small bits of content used in various sections of your website. Under normal usage they aren't required, however under advanced usage or where you want to explicitly specify the content used in a particular section of your site they can be useful.

An example of a snippet might be the content used on the 'List your Property' page if your an Agency, or the text used at the top of the 'Holiday Ideas' page.

How do I create a snippet?

It's generally worth a discussion with us about where you want to customise and your requirements before you attempt to add a snippet to your website.

The following snippets currently exist around the system, the text in brackets represents the 'slug' which is the identifier that helps match your content to the specific area of the website your customising:

  • Agency Thanks Page (agency.thanks.content): A snippet allowing you to specify the content used on the 'Thanks for Signing Up' page if your an agency.
  • Agency Signup Page (agency.new.content): A snippet allowing you to specific the content used on the 'Listing your Property' page if your an agency.
  • Holiday Ideas Page (holiday-ideas): A snippet allowing to override the content at the top of the Holiday Ideas page on your site.
  • Homepage Title (homepage.title): Allows you to specifically control the homepage title on the Kingston Theme.

How do I edit a snippet?

You can edit the content used for a snippet by going to the 'Site Content' -> 'Snippets' section of your Admin. From here you'll see all the snippets setup on your website with an 'Edit' button alongside them. Click on the 'Edit' button to change a snippet.

Snippets can come in two forms, text snippets and HTML snippets. Text snippets are just plain text areas that you can customise. HTML Snippets give you a full blown content editor.
